El Paraiso
Arturo Arango
Castillo
When Arturo Arango purchased Finca El Paraíso in Barcelona, Quindío, he found an
ageing and low-yielding plantation. Instead of walking away, he chose to rebuild. Plot
by plot, he replaced old trees, introduced new cultivars, and focused on sustainable
farming practices with a long-term approach to quality.
This microlot is made up of the Castillo variety, grown at altitudes between 1,300
and 1,450 metres. It’s naturally processed and sun-dried on raised beds under
controlled conditions, allowing for clean fermentation and optimal flavour
development.
In the cup, it offers a mature and balanced profile, with notes of red berries and
plum, followed by the rich sweetness of fig and a refreshing lime acidity.
Arturo combines a background in business management with hands-on agricultural
work. Since 2015, he has been focused on producing high-quality coffees through
structured processes and consistent attention to detail.
