Finca El Paraiso
Alex Bermudez
Castillo Y09
In the highlands of Piendamó, Colombia, at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level,
Alex Bermudez cultivates much more than coffee, he nurtures a vision. Once on a
completely different path, he chose to trade law books for coffee trees, driven by aconviction that his future was rooted in the soil.
El Paraíso, the farm he co-owns, became his canvas for experimentation, resilience,
and growth. With no agricultural background, Alex immersed himself in the intricate
world of specialty coffee, learning not just how to produce, but how to elevate coffee
to an art form. He didn’t just adapt, he innovated.
Today, as the quality director of INDESTEC, a family-run company, he channels his
experience to support fellow producers, empowering them with the tools and
knowledge to transform their crops into something exceptional.
This lot, Castillo Y09, is a kaleidoscope of flavour. The first sip might remind you of
lychee and pink pomelo: fresh, slightly floral, and delightfully bright. That gives way
to the softness of red apple and caramel, but what lingers is what makes this coffee
unforgettable: a finish that tastes like cotton candy, nostalgic and silky.
